Immunomodulatory mechanism : α-pinene exhibited the strongest prevention against IL-1β-stimulated inflammatory and catabolic pathways. α-pinene reduced IL-6 and TNF-α formation in macrophages of rats. It was also found that nitrite production was reduced by α-pinene.
Description : Alpha-pinene appears as a clear colorless liquid with a turpentine odor. Flash point 91°F. Less dense than water and insoluble in water. Vapors are heavier than air. Used as a solvent.
