ImmunoCR is a freely available electronic repository of plant-based bioactive immunomodulators. Immunomodulators are a class of compounds that can regulate or modulate pathological processes. Plant-based immunomodulators have the potential to replace chemical medications in treatment regimens due to the presence of side effects associated with them. ImmunoCR database houses information on phytochemicals and their immunomodulatory properties. Thousands of chemical compounds from plant materials have been incorporated and categorization of compounds into various chemical classes in which polyphenols, stilbenes, tannins, coumarins and derivatives, alkaloids, terpenoids, lignans, etc. are included.

  • For every phytochemical, the following information will be soon available through our database "ImmunoCR":
    1. Chemical structure and Identifiers
    2. Physicochemical data such as molecular weight, logP, H-bond donor and acceptor, polar surface area
    3. Pharmacokinetics properties absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity (ADMET)
    4. immunomodulatory compound-target relations
    5. Nutraphore identification of probable nutraceuticals.

Major classes of immunomodulators

Flavonoids

Flavonoids are various compounds found naturally in many fruits, vegetables and plants.Chemically, flavonoids have the general structure of a 15-carbon skeleton, which consists of two phenyl rings (A and B) and a heterocyclic ring (C, the ring containing the embedded oxygen). Flavonoids have specific immunomodulatory effects that might be of importance to several cancers.

Isoflavonoids

Soy and its products, and legume seeds (lentils, beans, peas) are the richest sources of isoflavones. Chemical structure of Isoflavonoids containing 15 carbon atoms known as flavonoids. In isoflavonoids (3-phenylchromans), the phenyl ring B is attached to heterocyclic ring Cat position 3 rather than 2 in flavonoids. The human immune system may benefit from various biological properties of isoflavonoids.

Stilbenes

Stilbenes are a class of phenolic metabolites found in various edible plants, such as grapevine, berries and peanuts.Stilbenes are structurally characterized by the presence of a 1,2-diphenylethylene nucleus with hydroxyls substituted on the aromatic rings and exist in the form of monomers or oligomers. Stilbenes are responsible to modulate regulatory T cell functions.

Tannins

Tannins are found commonly in the bark of trees, wood, leaves, buds, stems, and roots of plants.annins are structurally complex phenolic compounds that are categorized based on their chemical structure into two main groups.Tannins are known to modulate the inflammatory cytokine release.
